Banana Azul Hotel – Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica

As soon as you arrive at Banana Azul you are in vacation mode. You can hear the ocean, the hotel blends seamlessly with the nature around it. The staff were very friendly and the grounds are a tropical paradise. There is a lovely pool to lounge around. Gorgeous gardens, lush vegetation and massive trees surround the path that takes you right to their beach. They also serve tasty tropical drinks at their restaurant as well as right on the beach.

Our room was really unique in that it had a very private semi-outdoor portion with a hammock, huge bathtub and shower. It was so relaxing to be there. Also there were hardwood floors, air conditioning and it was very clean.

They have their own restaurant and the food was delicious! I had yummy pasta with a peanut sauce, avocado eggs benedict and their caribbean food night was the highlight! Their daily menu always features great vegetarian options. They even provide coffee and some fruit on the beach if you want to wake up and watch the sunrise!

Banana Azul is a special place in Costa Rica that I would love to visit again!Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica 16-IMG_0852 Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica 14-IMG_0838 15-IMG_0844 13-IMG_0832 beach Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Beach Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica 08-IMG_0810 09-IMG_0814 10-IMG_0816 11-IMG_0824 12-IMG_0828 Banana Azul Hotel Puerto Viejo Costa Rica

    Hi Anna,

Really cute, playful shots and what a gorgeous spot. I love Costa Rica and miss it much. We stayed in Quepos, Playa Potrero, Monteverde and a few other spots. Puerto Viejo looks amazing. When you combine the beach and the jungle you really can’t lose.

Awesome-looking meal too. I fell in love with casados in Quepos. A big old plate every day and I only needed 1 more meal. Saved a lot of dough down there in CR 😉

    Thanks so much for sharing.

I’ll tweet in a bit through Triberr.

    Signing off from Savusavu, Fiji.

Great article! I live on the Pacific side of Costa Rica but haven't been to Caribbean for over 12 years. Have heard only good things about this hotel and after seeing the photos I might just have to make a trek across the country.
