For those travelers that wish to see different parts of the world on a strict budget, there are many tourist destinations that fit the bill. Out of the way or little known, these locations offer bang for your buck value that’s hard to beat. Read on and discover a wealth of vacationing ideas that won’t break the bank.

Kraków Poland. When thinking of history and culture, Kraków isn’t the city that first springs to mind. It might even be a city that isn’t on the mind at all. This great destination isn’t filled with tourists and has a great downtown center filled with Cathedrals, Castles and all the European culture you might want. Add to that a great set of affordable hotels, hostels and dining and Kraków makes the list as an affordable and fun tourist stop.

Budapest Hungary. Is perhaps the most well known city on the list, but, surprisingly, fame doesn’t have to come with a high price tag. This classic city has much to offer a money conscious traveler, but it should be noted that most of the best deals are to be found when you explore away from the river. Enjoy hot spring spas and the local cuisine while basking in the awe inspiring glory that is Budapest’s remarkable architecture downtown and from the historic Castle Hill. Budapest is a tourist spot that is well worth the trip.

Český Krumlov, Czech Republic might be the smallest and least known destination on the list. Weighing in a minimal 14,000 inhabitants you might wonder that the town has anything to offer at all. It does, however, and in recent times has embraced tourism as a trade. The town is found in a beautiful landscape under the watchful stare of a 13th century castle and the prices can’t be beat. Food and drink costing the same as a cup of coffee costs elsewhere, there are few places you can live as cheaply as in Český Krumlov. Being small, everything is within walking distance, which negates the need to drive. Although you may not stop long, this wonderful town is definitely worth the visit.

Istanbul Turkey This vibrant and culturally rich city seems to have steep prices, but it’s the exchange rate that makes it a bargain. As the Turkish Lira falls, the cost of Istanbul’s sights gets less and less expensive to those travelling from without. See Turkish cathedrals, temples and markets in this unique European city at bargain prices. As this city is out of the way, it may take a little extra effort to get there, but once you do, you’ll find an affordable and culture filled stay.

Remember that when renting a car to travel through Europe, the cost of buying insurance is far outweighed by it’s value. There are few things more expensive than uninsured car repair. Look to car hire excess insurance when planning your ultimate, budget friendly European vacation.
