The New Website Changing Solo Travel

  • Share

IMG_00499Solo travel is getting more and more popular among women. I myself have done a lot of backpacking with one of my best travel friends of all time: me! Being a female traveler may not always be the easiest thing and no doubt it can sound daunting to begin with, but let’s face it, you don’t have to be the bravest woman on earth to hit the road as a solo traveler.

IsraelI’d say it actually has its advantages: there’s always someone willing to lend an extra hand to lift heavy luggage, giving a greeting with an unexpected smile from a stranger meaning “you’re brave, a nod of respect for exploring the world by yourself” and occasionally, a free drink on a night out! And isn’t it a challenge to carry all of that makeup while being a fierce adventurer off the beaten tracks at the same time!l5

OK, being a female traveler is awesome and you know what’s even more awesome? Sharing your experiences with people like you, who share your passion for travel and adventures. Sharing an experience with someone is more than any photos will ever show.

_DSC9181Speaking of which, I recently discovered a very cool website that helps you save money when traveling (in all safety), while living unique travel experiences with locals. It’s called GoCambio and the concept is as awesome as it is simple. Basically GoCambio allows travelers to stay with locals and in exchange they will teach them something; whether it’s their own language, or some special recipes from their country (or any other skill really). It’s a pure exchange: “You host me and I’ll teach you something”.me6

You can sign up as a host, a guest or both. And it’s even completely free! As a guest, you get to meet locals, live unique travel experiences and of course, save on your accommodation. You also get to share your knowledge and that feeling of reward that comes with teaching someone else! As a host, you can meet people worldwide and learn something without having to pay anything. After all, as the GoCambio strapline says “everyone’s got something worth sharing” and what’s better than using our skills as a currency while travelling, while making everyone a bit happier and more adventurous?

Awesome website! It’s great to see there are more companies and websites helping people connect with locals and learn from one another. Thanks for the suggestion!
