Olives from Spain in NYC

  • Share

olivessignI visited Spain for over two weeks and I absolutely loved it, they are a people who genuinely have a zest for life. At New York City’s iconic IAC HQ Building  Olives from Spain with the Tourism Institute of Spain celebrated the distinctive wines, food and culture of Spain. It was a delicious day of regional tasting seminars, wine stations and walk around tapas tastings. This was a wonderful opportunity to experience Spanish culture through their huge variety of food and drink. There was so much to learn throughout the day, for example did you know that Spain is the largest producer and exporter of table olives in the world? I didn’t realize that and the olive’s at Spain’s Great Match NY 2016 were robust with a unique flavor!

The olives at the event were prepared with many marinades, which include oregano, thyme, garlic, orange, lemon, onion and more.

The wine seminars were full of interesting information, for example the vines for Godello White Wine grow 3,000 ft above sea level and some of the vines are over 100 years old.

Spanish people actually prefer green olives.

It was great to be able to talk to so many people who were a wealth of information about the Spanish wines.

There were tons of ideas at Great Match about the olive edible pairing options.
