Most of last year I was getting a CSA farmbox from Flamingo Estates, I loved it. It was $32.50 including delivery and was packed with garden fresh produce. All the produce was sourced from local farmers. The fruit and vegetables were so much tastier than ones I’d gotten from the grocery store.
I was delighted with my Flamingo Estate boxes! The peaches! The strawberries! The lettuce that was packed with flavor. I was so impressed.
Last June I was traveling for the summer so I e-mailed Flamingo Estate to have them pause my CSA farm box. They e-mailed me back to tell me that my box would be increasing in cost from $32.50 to $70.00… what?! They said the new box would include eggs (I don’t eat eggs as I’m mostly vegan) and a small loaf of bread. How disappointing. I understand sometimes costs increase but more than double?! It’s just an inaccessible price point for me as I’m sure it is for many others.
