The Travel Tattoo I Finally Decided to Get

I have been wanting to get a travel tattoo for a long time but it has been a challenge to put the theme of travel into a tattoo. The things I love most about travel are of course taking photos, but also meeting new people, having new experiences, connecting with different cultures and the overwhelming sense of freedom I gain from doing what I love.  These are all difficult things to capture in a tattoo. After some time, I came across the quote “she flies with her own wings” which I felt encompassed all of those intangibles. After doing some research on tattoo shops I decided on a small tattoo shop in Cincinnati, Ohio. The tattoo artist took my ideas, sketched them into a lovely piece and went to work transforming my arm into a representation of me. After three hours my tattoo was complete and I am incredibly happy with it.

Thank you! It hurt, but no where near as much as the last tattoo I got on my foot!

Your tattoo came out great! Don't remember if it was influenced by any of the pictures we looked at together, but I think it represents you perfectly!

For a little bit I was wondering if you’d leave it blank and fill in the countries as you go, or have kids come up to you and color them in like a color-by-numbers or something. That would be funny. Looks good, though.

Very brave! And a lot of fun to see the tattoo gradually taking its shape through the different photos.

I like this! I have a world map outline on my wrist (no quote or colour though, and smaller). I love how the outline is kind of ‘sketchy’, if that word makes sense here.

Awesome! I love the colors and how it looks like spray paint. I´ve never seen it like that before, it´s really original!

Awesome! Great artist it seems. I love the colors. I could be wrong but it seems as if the patches of colors represent the different cultures and how they blend into one another so beautifully. The “shooting colors” representing the flights you take out (with the experience -color- you received from it). Beautiful!

I love it! I got my tattoo in 2006 after I spent the summer working and travelling in the USA (I’m British). I absolutely love my tattoo and the memories of my first working abroad experience! I’ve travelled a lot since then and I’m desperate to get another one, but I need to wait until I think of the *right* one. Yours is gorgeous!

Wow – this looks amazing, congrats!!! Love the colours, almost looks like they’re representing planes flying around the world.
