Exploring Brisbane

IMG_22300Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia  is an energetic river town. It is known for its lush parks and sprawling gardens, all folded alongside the meandering Brisbane River. If you find the weather too hot outside, there are bookshops, restaurants, cafes, bars and band rooms aplenty to hang out in. Besides shopping and eating, the city offers the largest range of flagship boutiques, casino parks, galleries, bowling alleys and riverside bistros.

Since this city has an experience tucked in every nook and corner, you have to take time off to discover its glory. I highly recommend finding a serviced apartments in Brisbane.  Some of the finest places to visit within the city are the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Brisbane Powerhouse, Gabba and Suncorp Stadiums, and Epicurious Garden on South Bank.

You will also find plenty of things to do and see if you wish to explore beyond the city limits. To embark on out-of-city trips, it is recommended that you rent a car. Car rentals are a boon for travelers who wish to explore a destination along with tapping the unexplored vicinities. A few places truly worth exploring, beyond Brisbane are:

For an enchanting picnic with your family and an all-day program of playing, eating, dancing and gazing at the beauty of nature, head to the New Farm Park. Consisting of a fort like tree-house with lots of shade as well as a bridge walk that winds through the fig trees in the park, the New farm playground is an absolute delight to visit.A short stroll away is the Brisbane River, where you can enjoy scenic views.

At the Tangalooma Island Resort, you can choose to go on a cruise and spot wild dolphins or just relax on the beach. You can also stay over at Tangalooma and explore its national parks and sandy beaches.

If you are fond of exotic places, don’t miss going to Moreton Island, an ethereal island full of pristine beaches, pretty wildflowers, serene lagoons, and limpid lakes. Adventure lovers will love this place for the sheer variety of things one can indulge in, which includes feeding dolphins, snorkeling, sand tobogganing, and quad biking.

Drive down to Mount Coot-tha to enjoy panoramic views of the city. Only a short drive from the city-centre, you will find sweeping lawns, picnic areas, and bushwalks for walking enthusiasts here. To spot some aboriginal art, take the Aboriginal Track down to Slaughter’s Falls.

Another experience not to be missed is a visit to the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, which is located on the grounds of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens in the suburb of Toowong near Brisbane. Watch entertaining shows for adults and children on the cosmos.
